Grading

Whats Grading?

Grading is the method used to create a range of sizes from a fully developed garment pattern prior to manufacturing.

When to Grade

We would advise that you need to be 100% happy with your garments design, fit and construction methods and that all modifications have been made to your pattern before grading.

How can we help

We can grade garments to your size specifications use industry standards or help you develop grading rules and size specifications for your company. There are a number of different grading methods and sizing conventions which can be used and we can discuss which are best for you.

Our grading charges are based on the number of pattern pieces and sizes to be graded (inclusive of base size).

For example:

  • A top with 1-4 pieces from £15.40 per size
  • A dress with 1-4 pieces from£19.80 per size
  • A skirt with 1-4 pieces from £13.20 per size
  • A pant with 1-4 pieces from £15.40 per size

We have a minimum charge of three sizes for grading.

Non standard garments that are more avant-garde in cut or construction need to be assessed on an individual basis.

Prices are for digital grading using consistent grade increments. It includes digitising a paper pattern or conversion of a digital file and/or a print of the stacked/nested grade.

Digital copies of the grading can be exported into formats which can be read by Gerber, Lectra and as well as illustrator files and PDFs
